Who Makes Up the PTO
Co-President (2)
Coordinate the over-all activities of the PTO, conduct monthly board meetings, conducts general meetings, delegate to and assist various officers and coordinators, and oversee School Council elections. Two-year commitment, ideally to be rotating terms.
The Co-President position is a project manager: this person ensures the continued delivery of the many fundraising and community programs that have become traditions at Brown School. You would work closely with Sarah McNeeley who is the current co-president and has now been on the PTO for two years. You can read more about the president position here. No event planning experience is required, but you do need a willingness to learn and some time each week to devote to the position - anywhere from 1-8 hours per week.
Assistant Treasurer
Assists Treasurer as needed, including with teacher stipends and grants.
Time Commitment: 1-2 hours/month
VP of Communications
Collects information from board members and committee chairs for weekly updates to the PTO e-blast, Facebook and Instagram pages, and website. Creates and maintains PTO events calendar. Creates graphics and prints event signage as needed.
Time Commitment: 1-2 hours/week
VPs of Volunteers & Community Events (2)
Generates and maintains lists of parent volunteers for PTO events, coordinates with committee chairs to assess volunteer needs. Assists with execution of community events and teacher appreciation events.
Time Commitment: 1-2 hours/week
All of the Scheduling Can Be Done From Home
VPs of Fundraising (2)
Manages events and opportunities to raise money to support PTO efforts, assists committees as needed with fundraising efforts, organizes restaurant nights, brings forward new ideas to the board for fundraising, evaluates previous efforts to determine whether or not to continue/repeat.
Time Commitment: 1-2 hours/week
All of the scheduling can be done from home.
All PTO Board Members are expected to attend all General and Board meetings and are supportive of all PTO events and efforts. They are a great point of contact for the community about the happenings of the Brown Elementary School.
Event chairs need not be part of the PTO board and are not required to attend monthly meetings but are always welcome.
