December Cultural Arts Updates
Nutcracker Dancers Visit First Grade!
Our 1st graders were treated to a demonstration by the Greater Boston School of Dance of their upcoming production of the Nutcracker. They learned the story of the Nutcracker and then watched the dancers perform highlights of the show in costume. The 1st graders then even got to learn some dance moves from the Nutcracker! Thank you to the amazing dancers for sharing your talents with us!
If you would like to attend the upcoming Nutcracker performance on December 13th or learn more about the programs offered, please check out their website at https://www.greaterbostonschoolofdance.com/ or @gbsd_dancers on social media.
People of the Dawn Visit Third Graders!
The 3rd graders got a special visit from the People of the Dawn program, led by an Indigenous Museum Educator from the Plimoth Patuxet Museum, who uses reproduction artifacts to explore with students how Wampanoag families lived, worked, and built communities in Patuxet before and after Europeans arrived in the 16th and 17th centuries. The Educator also discussed how Wampanoag and other Indigenous communities still thrive today. Students also had the opportunity to explore the artifacts, including the animal furs and tools like the axe, and ask questions about how the Wampanoags lived.
