Brazilian Beats Visits Brown School
Last Friday, all of the students got to enjoy a performance by Brazilian Beats, featuring Grooversity! Grooversity is an innovative drumming network envisioned and led by Brazilian percussionist Marcus Santos. Grooversity’s goal is to promote Afro-Brazilian percussion as an educational resource, entertainment and as a catalyst for social change. Grooversity focuses on community outreach for positive outcomes while targeting global diversity awareness.
The kids learned about the language and culture of Brazil, learned some dance moves (including samba and maculele!) They heard some amazing drumming, and even got to try playing the drums themselves. Our teachers even got to dance in the end!
This program is funded in part by a grant from the Natick Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
